Seo Linn get set to say ‘here we are’ to talented young musicians

Young people aged between 12 and 24 are encouraged to avail of the once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in a two-day workshop with Seo Linn, the Irish band responsible for the hugely popular Irish language version of Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’.

The band are hosting the two day workshop on Monday, July 11 and Tuesday, July 12 from 10 am to 3.30pm at An Culturlann, 37 Great James Street, in an effort to promote the Council’s Bid for European Youth Capital status in 2019 and to coincide with the Foyle Maritime Festival that is taking place from July 9 to July 17.

Anyone interested in taking part must register in advance and those taking part in the workshop are in with a chance of performing live with Seo Linn when they perform as part of the Clipper Race’s Prizegiving celebration event in Guildhall Square on Wednesday, July 13.

Oonagh McGillion, Director of Legacy with Derry City and Strabane District Council said: “Seo Linn are really powerful and energetic Irish live band who have taken the Irish music scene by storm with their unique take on Irish language versions of chart-topping hits. They are an extremely talented group of musicians and singers and we are delighted to have them on board to endorse and promote our European Youth Capital bid.

“I would encourage anyone with an interest in music or who is looking for something fun and exciting to do over the summer holidays to sign up and be part of this fantastic opportunity. Its suitable for young people aged between 12 and 24 and promises to be very interact and energetic for those involved.”
