The search for missing Londonderry man John Concannon is continuing today.

Mr Concannon has been missing now for almost a week.

Supt. Mark McEwan said: “The last confirmed sighting we have is of Mr Concannon at Lenamore Road. Searches continue to be carried out in the area and by Gardaí in adjacent locations across the border.

“A short time ago, an underwater search team began a search of a waterway in the area.”

Last week volunteers from a Community Search and Rescue Team joined the search.

The seventy-one-year old is described as being about 5’6” tall, of medium build and with grey hair.

He was wearing a black and grey beanie hat, a black coat, checked shirt and navy trousers.

Mr Concannon has medical conditions which cause extra concern for his wellbeing.

Following a possible sighting of a man answering his description in the Bridgend area, the team will also be searching in Co Donegal.

Mr Concannon is known to have family connections with the Burt area.

Police are asking anyone who has seen Mr Concannon to get in touch with them at Strand Road station, or call Gardaí if he has been seen in Donegal.

Mr Concannon, or anyone who knows of his whereabouts, is asked to contact Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

If you have seen him at any time in the past week, please contact police or Gardaí.
