Sands introduces freephone number

With the introduction of a new Freephone number, bereaved parents and their families in Northern Ireland will no longer have to worry about the cost of calling the Sands (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity) Helpline.

The Helpline can provide a safe, confidential place for anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby – whether a baby died long ago or recently. It is open from Monday to Friday at 9.30am-5.30pm and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm-10pm. The new Freephone Sands Helpline number is: 0808 164 3332.

Sands’ website has been re-designed and has changed its domain name to The new site is now easier to navigate, meaning support services are now more accessible for those who need them most. Bereaved parents can also search for their nearest group via the new site.
