A PSNI police officer shot herself in the leg in Londonderry on Monday morning (May 18).
The incident happened at Strand Road Police Station.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “A police officer has been taken to hospital following the accidental discharge of a firearm at Strand Road police station.
“The incident occurred shortly before 8am. “Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.”
Last year the Sentinel reported how 16 shots were fired in police stations and in homes between March 2011 and March 2014.
Officers fired shots at home, in police stations and police vehicles. Chambers were emptied into radiators, floors, walls and bedroom and kitchen furniture. There were no injuries.
And in each incident just one round was discharged.
