Following last week’s appeal for traffic calming measures for the Glenshane Road A6 corridor DUP councillor David Ramsey has thanked the PSNI for their prompt response.

In a statement, Councillor Ramsey said he was pleased at the very prompt response by Ruth Irvine from the PSNI’s road safety department at Maydown: “The PSNI took action immediately and the order is now with road service for traffic speed counters to survey the area. This is the first step in trying to make this a permanent community concern site.

“Residents were very proactive and formed the petition to try and prevent possible serious accidents save lives on this very dangerous stretch of road and with community leadership something is now going to be done about this important issue,” he said.

“Over 90 percent of residents in the area signed the petition because of fears for the safety of road users. Road Service and PSNI traffic branch will remain in contact with me.”
