Mouse hides in light fitting

Replacing an old light bulb in the house, we were astonished at how hot the recessed bulbs were, so we decided to replace all of them.

However, Ronnie and myself got the shock of our lives when we went into the shower room and discovered that a mouse had made a nest in the loft cavity adjacent to the light over the sink.

Now that the Met Office has issued a warning for a bout of grim winter weather, we have decided to check out our other lights and do a bit of ‘visitor prevention’ ...

I made a short video of Ronnie removing the light fitting to show where we found the mouse. Just click on the image to view it.

Happily for me, the mouse we came across was already dead, but we are not taking any chances and have set a few traps and mouse-proofed any wee gaps we could see around pipes and cables.

The Met Office has warned of unsettled weather right up to Christmas, with periods of rain and strong winds along with overnight frosts.

And the predictions are that the rest of December, right through into the start of 2015 will most likely stay unsettled and often windy.
