Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted and had her handbag stolen as she was walking along the Altinure Road around 1.45am on August 29.

Constable Richard Gormley explains: “The victim, who is in her 20s, was walking home with friends from a festival when a blue three door Renault Clio pulled up and the female driver got out and attacked her. The woman noticed her handbag was missing after the incident.

“The gold coloured handbag contained bank cards and a leopard print purse but the victim would really like to recover her white iPhone 6 as it contains all her honeymoon photographs and are her only copies.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information about the driver and passengers of the car to contact us on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 135 29/08/16.”
