The Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Defence Julian Brazier has confirmed a recruitment drive is being launched this August to boost the 3,000 cadets in Northern Ireland.

Mr Brazier confirmed there are currently 3,000 cadets in Northern Ireland, drawn from a wide spectrum of the community.

He was recently asked by DUP MP Gregory Campbell what plans his Department has to promote recruitment to the army cadets in 2014/15.

He replied: “There are presently over 3,000 cadets in Northern Ireland of which over 2,000 are Army cadets. These cadets are drawn from across a wide spectrum of the community. The Reserve Forces and Cadets Association of Northern Ireland are planning to launch a new recruitment campaign in August working in partnership with a number of external agencies.”
