Tributes are pouring in for the 28 year-old Donegal woman who was murdered in India.
The body of Danielle McLaughlin, who is from Buncrana, Co. Donegal, was discovered in “an isolated open place at Adnem, Devbaug, Canacona” and police have launched a murder investigation under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
It was reported that at 7.00 a.m. local time on Tuesday a farmer on his way to a paddy field at Katkatem-Dumane discovered Ms. McLaughlin’s naked body in a field.
Miss McLaughlin’s friends paid tribute to her by leaving messages on her Facebook profile page.
“Love you Danielle, you had the most beautiful soul,” wrote one friend.
“Just read the news article - so sad,” added another.
Miss McLaughlin’s last post on her Facebook profile page was about her trip to Goa in India.
Fr John Walsh, parish priest, said Miss McLaughlin’s mother had suffered a number of bereavements.
“The absolute horror of this girl’s murder has stunned the community,” he said.
“We feel for her mother in particular and her siblings.”
“Thank you to all my friends and family for making home so special and always looking after me,” wrote Miss McLaughlin.
“I am very grateful and the luckiest person I know...Off on another adventure.”
