Police are investigating an incident of criminal damage in the Alfred Street area of Londonderry during the early hours of this morning, Friday 16 May.

At around 2.20am it was reported that the window of a house in the area had been smashed.

Police have appealed for witneses to contact them on the non-emergency number 101 or to speak to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, DUP election candidate David Ramsay said there has been an on going problem antisocial behaviour in the area, which he claimed was “driven by alcohol”. “A family moved in recently and their home was attacked and windows broken. This was very disturbing for them,” he said.

“This is not the first incident and I am asking the police to have a greater presence in the area and for CCTV to be used,” he said, adding: “I will be keeping contact with the police to make sure this is dealt with.
