Creeper burglars crashed a stolen car into a roundabout in Galliagh in the early hours of Wednesday (April 9).

It is believed entry was gained to the house sometime between 6pm on Tuesday (April 8) and 2.25am on Wednesday.

The keys for a blue Renault Laguna were taken and the car stolen. The car was later discovered abandoned following a road traffic collision at a roundabout in the Fairview Road area at around 2.30am.

A 21 year old man was arrested a short time later in connection to the incident and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A second man described as being in his early 20s was reported to have been seen in the vicinity of the abandoned vehicle and police are currently seeking to identify this man.

Detectives would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Bloomfield Park area or who witnessed the RTC at Fairview Road to contact them at Strand Road on the new non-emergency number 101.

Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111
