Detectives in Strabane are investigating an Internet scam involving the sale of fake tickets over the last few weeks for forthcoming concerts of Adele in Belfast and Justin Beiber in Dublin in 2016.
Police have arrested a man and interviewed him about this scam. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
The investigating officer, Detective Inspector Lindsey Kitson, has appealed for anyone in the district to get in touch if they believe they have fallen victim to this particular scam.
“As part of this ongoing investigation we want to ensure that we identify as many people as possible who may have been victims of this fraud,” she said.
“We believe tickets for the Justin Beiber and Adele concerts were offered in a group of four from the Gumtree website and a subsequent face to face transaction took place involving the exchange of money for fake tickets.
“I want to hear from anyone who has bought tickets for these concerts from a man after seeing an offer on Gumtree for those tickets. We believe these tickets are fake. Detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime, Strabane can be contacted on the non-emergency number 101.
