Three-and-a-half kilometres of road from Drumahoe to Warbleshinny will be closed to traffic for three months to allow energy supplier SGN lay a gas pipe line on the southern outskirts of the city.
TransportNI says almost the entire Church Road will be closed to through-traffic until May 13.
Householders living along the road and businesses with property there will, however, be accommodated.
“Notice is hereby given that the Department, acting in pursuance of its powers under Article 7 of the Road Traffic Regulation (NI) Order 1997, intends to close temporarily to traffic the U1164, Church Road, Derry from its junction with Millbrook Park to its junction with Trench Road for Laying IP gas pipeline on behalf of SGN.
“The closure will be in place from Monday, February 22, 8am to Friday, May 13, 6pm, continuously for 82 days. Vehicles requiring access to lands or premises abutting the closed length of road will be accommodated.”
