Celtic called to '˜deal with' fans who hanged dolls at Old Firm game

DUP MP Gregory Campbell, who condemned the actions of Celtic supporters, said: “A series of things seem to have happened.

“Someone got these sex dolls, handcuffed their hands behind their back, in one case put a Rangers scarf around one and on another case apparently put an Orange collarette around them, then hung them up as if they were being hanged from the stand.

“They were dangling down in front of their fans below them.”

Mr Campbell claimed Celtic fans also “used the ‘hun’ word in a banner”.

“This is now an issue for the football club themselves,” he added.

“Some of the Celtic fan groups have come out very strongly and opposed them.

“But the club themselves, they are responsible for the actions inside the ground and these things were done at the ground, at the Celtic end of the ground, so the football club need to responde and deal with those responsible.”

He added that CCTV footage “should ensure that they get those responsible and take appropriate action against them”.

“It was also world suicide day on Saturday,” added Mr Campbell.

“However I would imagine anyone who would go to these lengths were blissfully unaware.

“But there is an irony that was the case and they probably would have known about Kris Boyd’s brother because that was headlines in the Scottish media.

“He was quite a prominent Rangers player and he was speaking out about the trauma of his family after his brother’s suicide.

“There are a combination of things there that should ensure the football club takes action against those responsible.”
