A student from North West College is one of 28 women to contest the title for Miss Northern Ireland 2015.
Aimee Kirk, from Campsie, just outside Eglinton, is one of 28 contestants who will vie for the top three places in the Miss Northern Ireland event on May 11 in the Europa Hotel.
A past pupil of St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s High School in Claudy, the 17-year-old is now studying Level 2 hairdressing and beauty at North West College, at the Limavady campus, and aspires to run her own business in hairdressing and beauty therapy. Her 18th birthday will take place shortly after the Northern Ireland final on May 11.
The eldest of five children, Aimee has four brothers and one sister, who, along with her parents, are delighted with her success so far, she said.
“They think it is unbelievable,” she said.
“I always watched Miss Northern Ireland and Miss World and followed it up. I thought I was too young to enter last year, but this year I just filled out the form online and got selected.
“There was a practice run for the heat the night before in the Icon in front of six judges and I was selected. It was unbelievable and the Miss Northern Ireland final will be in the Europa Hotel in Belfast on May 11.
“I’m doing a lot of studying at the minute for my chosen charities which are Foyle Downs Syndrome and one combating suicide in children and I’m going to do some speech and deportment work in the run up to the event as well.”
