A four-year-old child was uninjured after a gang of masked men - one of whom was armed - burst into a house in Londonderry on Thursday (May 14) asking for a man by name.

Just before 11pm the five masked men forced their way into the house at Bloomfield Park.

After asking for an individual and checking the property they left. A woman in her 20s and a four-year-old child who were in the property at the time were uninjured.

Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan said: “I appeal anyone who was in that area at the time and saw anyone or any vehicles acting suspiciously to contact police at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101.

“Alternatively, information can be given to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
