Lindsay Mooney Reunion
a REUNION event in respect of the Sgt Lindsay Mooney Memorial Flute Band will take place on Saturday, March 16, at Rochesters Bar at 8pm.
The band was formed in 1973 in the Lincoln Court area following the death of Lindsay Mooney
Throughout the intervening years the band progressed, going from strength to strength, and one of the many highlights was joining the North of Ireland Bands Association to Contest, where they competed against other bands. The band gained a number of second and third places and, in 1982 they celebrated when they took the top place, winning the All Ireland Championship Melody section.
The band finally split up in the summer of 1993, but now a call has gone out for former members, close associates and friends to get together for a reunion night.
Those attending the reunion are urged to bring any photos and mementos relating to the band with them.
On the night entertainment will be provided by from Burntollet Sons Of Ulster Flute Band, Pride of the Bann Flute Band and there will be a special appearance from SLMMFB. A disco will follow.
