HERE’S a video of the newly-transformed Cunningham Building in Ebrington.
Artists Heather Ackroyd and Dan Harvey have covered it in grass, ahead of an official unveiling on Saturday (September 14).
Ironically, the Ebrington Parade ground around the corner was supposed to be covered in grass but instead is - debatably - all weather.
Londonderry native Mitchell McLaughlin told the Public Accounts Committee last year: “The parade ground was initially intended to be a grassed area, and a contractor was in position.”
He explained: “The contractor was preparing the ground for a grassed area and was putting in subsoil and whatever, and there was a change of plan. It was decided to change it to a gravelled area.”
In the film workers are seen preparing for what promises to be a spectacular event at the parade ground next weekend.
For two nights only Ebrington Square will be transformed into the city’s largest stage to showcase Haris Pasovic’s ‘The Conquest of Happiness.’
Inspired by the writing of world-renowned pacifist Bertrand Russell, The Conquest of Happiness will feature a dynamic combination of first hand accounts and dramatisation of some of the most horrific acts of war of the 20the century.
