The prestigious Brass Band League Championships will be heading for Strabane’s Alley Theatre on Saturday (April 12).

A welcome return for a day which is now a well-known event in the Alley’s annual Spring programme.

Musicians will embark in Strabane representing brass bands from all over Northern Ireland to compete in the Brass Band league of Northern Ireland.

Programme Director Tommy Barr explained: “Strabane will be the place to be on Saturday as bands men and women from all over Ireland will be descending at the Alley Theatre for a full day of brass band music.

“Over 17 bands will compete for prizes such as Best Conductor, Brass Band League Band of the Year, Best Soloist and Best Percussion.

“We are delighted that the Brass Band League Championships will take place in the Alley Theatre for a fifth year.

“The Alley Theatre is the perfect location for occasions such as this, it’s an event we all look forward to and I am sure it will be another memorable occasion. “All the bands love coming to Strabane and always have a great time performing.

“I want to urge everyone to come along, enjoy a sensational day of music in the Alley. Hopefully on a sunny spring day, the sight of the many different band uniforms around the Alley Theatre, will only add to the great atmosphere this day brings.

“If you are a lover of brass band music or just enjoy musical performances this day of superb music is not to be missed.”

The event takes place from 10am – 6pm. Morning and afternoon sessions are £3 or £5 for full day.
