Foyle Cycling Club start a four week programme later this month, in Gransha.

Foyle Cycling Club is running its annual Youth Cycling Skills development programme over four Saturday afternoons starting at 2pm on 14 April, at Gransha Park.

The programme is aimed at developing cycling skills and promoting an interest in and enjoyment of cycling in young people aged from 10 to 15. The program follows an established Cycling Ireland format and will be delivered by qualified CI coaches within the Club.

The coaches will develop technical skills for road cycling, basic bike maintenance, safe cycling techniques and is a great fun programme with some good competition thrown in. The young people completing will each receive a certificate of their achievement and prizes. Even better news the course is basically free - although there may be a nominal fee of £1 each week to cover prizes.

The course is open to all comers and FCC would encourage parents to bring along their own kids and their friends to the opening session for some fun and enjoyment on a bike.

Turn up on the day for one hour and kids will gain valuable experience on the bike which they will find invaluable for their future on the bike.

Mechanically sound bikes and well fitting helmets are required to take part.
