Local Kickboxing club, Mickey Finn’s Academy (MFKA), are celebrating after claiming an unprecedented 13 World titles at the WKC and WMO World Kickboxing Championships in Portugal and England respectively.

Michael Bradley, a sixth degree black belt and President of the World Kickboxing Council (WKC) and World Martial Arts Organisation (WMO) alongside his wife, Finneen (Third Dan) and Vice-President of the World Kickboxing Council (WKC), were the team responsible for training the fighters as part of ‘Team Northern Ireland’.

In total, 19 fighters from throughout the North travelled with remarkable success.

The inaugural WMO Championships took place in Rugby, Warwickshire with Finneen and her son, Brenainn, taking home three world medals before, just three days later, travelling to Portugal to take part in the World Kickboxing Council (WKC) Championships in Albufeira.

Exhausted but determined, Michael led the team to Portugal where the Northern Ireland team topped the scoreboards with gold medal after gold.

From MFKA alone, Finneen lifted three world titles in ‘continuous’ and ‘semi-contact’ fighting while Michael Harkin, PT and instructor at MFKA, also lifted three world titles in ‘continuous’ and ‘point fighting’ and also a silver and bronze in additional divisions.

Brenainn Fullerton also lifted two world titles in ‘continuous fighting’ and ‘point fighting’.

For Brenainn this was his third world title in seven days, a fantastic achievement.
