SNOOKER: Seven-up for undefeated Premier League leaders

LAST WEEK'S seventh series of fixtures in the Gillen Fuels-sponsored North-West Premier Snooker League saw unbeaten leaders CYMS '˜A' retain their two-point advantage over closest pursuers Shantallow House.

The current two principal contenders for the game’s flagship team title both chalked up 5-1 home victories, the Letterkenny frontrunners producing formidable form in their outing against Hollywood.

Phelim McClafferty (50 and 36 breaks) and Gareth Kirwan (44 sequence) played the 2-0 anchor roles, the third member of the CYMS triumvirate, Marc McCarron, posting a 46 break in his 1-1 stalemate against Stephen Heaney.

Shantallow’s win over AOH was backboned by 2-0 verdicts from Peter Doherty and a sharpish Stephen Brady (48 and 40 breaks). Joe Porter made the cameo contribution by sharing the spoils in his two-frame session with Seamus Cusack.

Although Tracey’s ‘A’ joined the Hibs in third place, the William Street outfit were held 3-3 at Du Pont and slipped to six points off the pace. In the other two matches, Glendermott won 4-2 at George’s Bar, while Tracey’s ‘147’ and visiting CYMS ‘B’ played out a 3-3 draw.
