GOLF: McEleney’s shine to secure Greensomes competition at Foyle

Forty plus pairs turned out for the Weekend Greensomes Competition at Foyle and on a fine day the scoring was of the highest order.

A 43 points two way break of tie deciding the winners in favor of Paul McEleney and Martin McEleney (13) who returned a six over par round for their 43 points and took top honours virtue of their 24 points on the back nine.

Runners up were Albert Gurney and Cormac Cassidy (12) who returned a five over par round to also finish on 43 points.

Third spot went to John McDowell and Eamon O’Kane (15) after the finished with 42 points.

The Match Play is now underway in the Pauls Butchers Spring League at Foyle with the leading qualifiers.

Team 9 of Stephen Radcliffe, Paul Maxwell, Stephen Moran and Niall Cassidy, who came into the Match Play as favorites reaching the Final after convincing victories in the quarter-final over Team 8 and making the Final after a very solid and convincing victory over the strongly fancied Team 15. They now await the winners of the other semi-final between Teams 13 and 7.

Club Membership which includes G.U.I. Fees is now over due and must be payed before playing in Competitions and also to maintain your Congu Handicap meaning you can play in Open Competitions and represent the Club in Inter Club Competitions.

Optional Insurance is also due by April 30th.

From today (Wednesday) until Sunday the PFS Accountants Qualifying Pairs, while the Family Dental Practice Club Foursomes Match Play Draw is posted on Notice Board with preliminary matches to be played by April 30th.
