Another busy week at Roe Park saw huge numbers turn out to play in the many competitions provided, the main event being the annual Macmillan Charity Day Open organised by Malcolm Stuart.

With some fantastic prizes up for grabs the stage was set for some big scores and Shea Hogg didn’t disappoint as he won with an excellent score of 41 points.

Young Jamie Cochrane continued his fine form as he secured the runner-up spot with Sean Hasson taking third place.

Nearest the Pin at the ninth hole was won by Andy Dunn with Nigel Mearns winning at the seventeenth hole. Ryan Magee won the Front nine and Derek Simpson won the back nine.

The Club Stableford on Thursday was won by Alister Sproule with 41 points. He just pipped Andy Dunn in second place with the same score thanks to a better back nine.

SJ Mitchell and Co. are the proud sponsors of the Monthly Medal series at Roe Park and once more provided the amazing prizes for the July Medal on Saturday.

The course was set up at its longest and together with the breezy conditions made it a stern test for all participants. John Carmichael played his best round of the year taking the victory with an excellent nett total of 66.

Another product of the Roe Park Junior Academy, young Phillip Callaghan, also scored a nett 66 but had to settle for second place thanks to the count back rule. Sammy Murphy finished third with a nett 70 and Ricky Cochrane took the gross prize with 71.

Golfer of the Year sponsored by Resident Head PGA Professional Michael McCrudden is once more seeing Kieran Berryman completely dominate as he looks to defend his title. Eyeing a third consecutive title he sits proudly on top with an outstanding total of 94 points. Andy Young has it all to do once more if he is to challenge him, as he sits in second spot on 60 points.

Young Jamie Cochrane has the time and the talent to feature in the title race at the end if he carries on his fine form. He currently resides in third place on 50 points with plenty of time yet to catch up to Kieran.

The North West Inter Club League second round kicked off last week with Roe Park hosting Faughan Valley.

The visitors found it very tough going indeed as they were soundly beaten five games to two. Team Captain Jamie Vinnicombe now takes his team to Faughan Valley this week hoping to capitalize on their lead.

This week also sees the Roe Park Resort Cup which is played over Thursday and Saturday.
