With yesterday the first closing date for Waterside Half Marathon (WHM) entries and next week’s Dessies Run reporting a healthy pre-race entry, local road running is gearing up for two of the most popular races of the season.

The WHM entry has surged in the past week as runners put their money where their feet are and the race organisers are looking at another full house for the Sunday, September 4th event. The individual entry limits we understand are under threat, although slots for the Three Person Team Relay option still have a way to go.

As we go to press, the online WHM entry portal was due to close at midnight Monday, August 15th but that deadline may now have been extended, check at www.derrystrabane.com/halfmarathon

Paper entry forms can be sourced at the Foyle Arena, Templemore Sports Complex and Strabane’s Riversdale Leisure Centre and completed forms with the entry fees will be accepted until the end of this week, Friday 19th August.
