Impressive 10k displays from Thompson and Logan in Comber

Four members of Larne AC joined over 200 runners at the inaugural Comber Potato 10K on Saturday(July 4).

Billy Thompson put in a strong performance, finishing second MV50 and 22nd overall in a time of 40:14.

Gillian Logan produced another big display to finish as sixth lady in a time of 45:32.

Heather Baxter was next home, taking first spot in the FV45 category(51:37). She was followed by Melissa Whiteside who timed 58:43.

Three club members took part in the annual Glens of Antrim Coast Road 100 / 140km charity Cycling Sportive to raise money for ‘Make a Difference’ - a non-profit charitable organisation, founded by former Irish League footballer, Glenn Dunlop.

First back for the club, with a new personal best, was Pamela Ward in a brilliant 3:45. Pamela was using this as a training event for the Giant’s Causeway Coast Sportive in September.

Stephen McManus (3:58) was next home, before David Noble crossed the line in 3:59.

Saturday also saw over 25 new runners complete the nine-week ‘Couch 2 5k’ training plan with a full 5k graduation run at Larne parkrun .
