O’Flynn does it again for Institute

The Institute striker’s second half goal, which was his tenth of the season and his third against Darren Murphy’s side this campaign, ensured the Waterside men deservedly claimed a share of the spoils at Drumahoe.

Paul Kee’s men were second best in the first half and fell a goal behind to Ryan Harpur’s 15th minute header, but a tactical switch going to four at the back meant they upped the ante in the second half.

Both sides took a while to settle but it was the visitor’s who took the lead on 15 minutes following a slick move.

A tremendous left wing centre by Matt Hazley flew into the six yard box over Eugene Ferry and the in-rushing Ryan Harpur made no mistake heading home from close range.

Just before the break O’Flynn had Stute’s first shot in anger but the Cork man’s effort sailed just over Alvin Rouse’s crossbar.

Early in the second half Graham Crown did well to ghost in behind Cameron Grieve to latch onto Aaron Walsh’s free-kick, but his shot while on the slide, was saved by Rouse.

Rouse was in the thick of things again on 53 minutes this time he did well to turn over Mark Scoltock’s over-head kick, after the big centre-back latched onto Stephen O’Donnell’s initial knock down.

The Drumahoe men got back onto level terms on 73 minutes when substitute Dean Curry saw his left wing cross find O’Flynn and he made no mistake, guiding the ball perfectly into Rouse’s bottom right hand corner.

A miss placed pass by Walsh right at the death only picked out Jamie Douglas, but fortunately for Stute the substitute’s shot was saved by Ferry.
