ARDMORE manager Damien McGee was over the moon after his side completed an historic treble, on Friday night.

McGee’s side added the Matt Morrison Junior Cup to the First Division championship trophy and Sentinel Cup success, following their hard fought win over Lincoln Courts, at Wilton Park.

“I can’t express how proud I am of the fellas and they are a great bunch of lads and I hope to have them all for next season,” admitted the Ardmore gaffer.

“You get out of life what you put in and our boys have put it in all year for me.

“I’m happy for the boys because they have put in a big effort into the season and I think they fully deserve what they have won.”

Limavady men Newtowne have clinched the treble on a few occasions but as McGee points out Ardmore look to have achieved another record.

“Winning a treble is a big achievement for a First Division team, I think Newtowne have done it a few times but that was when they were a Premier Division team; I can’t recall a First Division team doing it.

“Overall I thought the boys deserved it and I felt we were the better side throughout apart from maybe a 20 minute spell in the second half when Lincoln Courts had a go at it.”

McGee is already planning for next season and he’s hoping for another successful campaign in the Premier Division.

“We have players coming next season again and that’s because success breeds success and players want to come and play for you,” he added.

“My phone doesn’t stop with this player looking to come and that can only be good for the side, in fact I think it looks good for the future of the club.”
