Welders next up at Drumahoe

Institute's Ryan Semple is struggling ahead of this weekend's game against H&W Welders.

INSTITUTE manager Paul Kee is expecting his players to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat at Warrenpoint Town, when they host Harland & Wolff Welders, this Saturday (KO 3pm).

The match at the Riverside Stadium, is the perfect encounter for the Waterside men, who will be looking to avenge last year’s defeats to the Belfast men.

“Every game we go out to try and win and Saturday, will be no different,” stated Kee.

“We need to start games, the way we have been finishing them, in terms of intensely and playing a high tempo game, but we can’t continue to give sides two goals head starts and expect to get anything.

“It’s not like in games we have sat in the dressing room after a game and said ‘well we were second best today’, that hasn’t been the case the problems we have had have been our own doing.”

Last season the Welders picked up maximum points in their two encounters against ’Stute and Kee will be reminding his players of that this week at training.

“We played well at their place in the first match but just didn’t take our chances, however this season I feel we have players who are capable of taking the chances, although on Saturday that was our problem at Warrenpoint Town,” he added.

“We have a good mixture of experienced and young players who are making their way in the game at this level and because of that we haven’t been consistent. But everyone is really working hard both on and off the pitch.”

The Drumahoe club’s boss has a virtually fit squad to choose, with Ryan Semple, who recently returned from a length suspension, is struggling with a virus.

“I have a fully fit squad apart from Ryan Semple, who missed Monday’s night training and last night’s practice match, because he’s sick, so we’ll assess him later in the week, but at the minute he’s struggling.”
