‘To play average and win is good’ - Kee
INSTITUTE’S Head of Development Paul Kee admitted he was disappointed following his side’s 1-0 win over Dergview, on Saturday.
The Waterside men had midfielder Aaron McEneff to thank for the victory, but Kee felt ’Stute weren’t at their best, in what was their final home game of the season.
“We were poor, it was a typical end of season game. In fairness to the players it’s difficult to keep them motivated but we want to try and finish as high as we can and there was only three or four players playing to their full potential.
“When Dergview had their chances they didn’t take them. We’ve had games this year where we have had chances and we didn’t take them. To win is good because it’s another three points and it takes us just one match away now from finishing third.”
Kee did however accept that although his side didn’t play well, it was good to see the players picking up maximum points despite not keeping their usual high standards.
“After we scored we took our foot off the gas and let them come into the game. We didn’t have enough bite about us and the second half was hard to watch to be honest.
“We normally get control of games but there was no flow to our game. But I can’t complain because we’ve played well this year and lost so to play average and win is good.”
