Kee happy with overall performance

INSTITUTE manager Paul Kee was thrilled by his teams overall display, which saw them secure a deserved 2-0 win over Loughgall, on Saturday.
The Waterside men dominated things virtually the entire 90 minutes and because of that the Waterside man described the display, as the best he had seen from his team this campaign.
“It was one of those days where everything seemed to come together and I congratulated the players after the game for their display,” stated Kee.
“In fairness to Colin Malone he said that we deserved that win fully, because some managers wouldn’t say it, but it just goes to show that there was a lot of players who were playing with a swagger, confidence, energy, enthusiasm and quality.
“We controlled the game from start to finish, we really dominated it and I don’t think 2-0 flattered us.
“The pleasing thing was that we didn’t slack off in the second half we kept our intensity up and the players fitness levels are getting better.
“We are getting sharper and our form is coming at the right time of the season.
“I think I was justified in the team which I picked because I feel that was probably our best performance this year, as a unit.”
The Institute manager also admitted that it was tough leaving the likes of Graham Taylor on the bench and also not including winger Dean Carlyle in the squad.
Kee was also full of praise by the link-up play with Michael McCrudden and Dean Jarvis.
The duo combined for ’Stute’s second goal, which the talented left-back finished off impressively, after a defensive splitting pass by McCrudden.
“If I’m to be honest I had the hardest team selection of the season, because we had a number of players left out today, who are very disappointed,” he added.
“Credit to the 11 that played and the ones who came on and those who were on the bench, in fact even players who weren’t in the squad, because they have all been contributing in training.
“In fairness when McCrudden gets the ball to his feet he’s an exciting player, he’s creative, he goes at people and he put in a really good performance, linking up well with Jarvis.
“Jarvis at left-back gives us this new dimension going forward, because if he is one on one he’ll go past you and he’s an exciting attacking player, as well as a good defender, so for me he’s a top player.
“(Stephen) Parkhouse is getting better, (Darren) McFadden is coming on and while he’s missed a few chances, he will definitely be a good player in the future and those minutes he got under his belt on Saturday will do him the world of good.
“He is working in the right direction to being a top player, considering he’s 20 now in January, so we are pleased with the way things went.
“I thought (Darren) McCauley in the first half was good as well, he put a good shift in, I think Joe Gray is starting to get better and better, he had a good game on Saturday. (Neil) Harkin was excellent and he topped his display off with a goal, so it was an all round good day at the office.”
