The Waterside men should welcome back duo Darryl McDermott and Michael McCrudden.

“The defeat wasn’t the end of the world because Larne have only one game left now,” he said.

“We need to win against Lisburn Distillery on Tuesday night and if we do that we should be guaranteed a play-off.”

Following their defeat to Ards on Saturday, Deery was annoyed that for the second game in a row his side failed to keep a clean-sheet.

After conceding a late consolation goal at Larne last Tuesday night from a cross; Ards’ first goal at the weekend also came from a set-piece.

Deery wants his players to bounce back and start cutting out the conceding of poor goals, especially from set-pieces.

“That’s two games in a row we have conceded soft goals,” he added.

“A lot of teams in this division pride themselves on delivering balls into the box and when you start conceding from them you’re in trouble.

“If we had gone in at 1-0 at half-time we could have regrouped but we conceded a poor goal and we got dragged into the game a bit in the second half.

“We just found it tough defensively overall I don’t know what it was. We just need to get to the root of it, evaluate it properly and see if we can improve.

“We’ve asked young Aaron Jarvis to come into a massive game. He’s a great player but he found it tough on Saturday.”
