“We have gone in at times wondering how we weren’t ahead but we were clinical and we were comfortable to be honest and we’re delighted with the three points.

“I’m just afraid that the boys don’t appreciate the three points because they were hard to come by last year, but we need to keep enjoying these wins because it’s the main reason why we’re here.

“You can never underestimate the feeling of a win. We have to keep going.

“I’ve been disappointed because although we’ve started really well, I think we’ve got a bit nervy and edgy afterwards. We scored a great goal but then it was scrappy and it wasn’t really how we wanted to play. Although we’re scoring early and it’s great I think we can still improve after we get the goal.

“I was aware that we had enough to cause them bother but myself, Paddy (McLaughlin) and Kevin (Doherty) got frustrated at times because we knew we could be a whole lot better in possession.

“We spoke about it and we were much better in the second half because we had more men looking for the ball. We were at their back four all the time in the second half and we could have had more. I’m delighted the way we’ve looked to add goals this year.”

Deery was pleased that striker Gareth Brown broke his goal scoring duck for the season.

“When Gareth gets a week or to under his belt he can jump up level so it was just about knowing when he was right and I felt that he was right at it,” he added.

“For the first hour he was a real threat and he got a great goal and he assisted one, so he had a great part to play which is what you want from your strikers.”
