Feeney is being linked with a move to Welsh side Newport County, the English League Two, parted company with manager Terry Butcher and his backroom team on Thursday.

Former Plymouth Argyle gaffer John Sheridan replaced Butcher at Rodney Parade and it is believed Newport are keen on Blues chief Feeney – who played under Sheridan at Plymouth – to act as number two.

Linfield will be keen to keep Feeney with the Blues currently leading the Danske Bank Premiership.
