Derry legends called up
Peter Hutton.
FORMER Derry City greats Peter Hutton and Sean Hargan will be coming up against the likes of Wayne Rooney, Antonio Valencia and Paul Scholes tonight (Tuesday).
The duo have been selected in David Jeffrey’s Irish League side who take on Manchester United, in Harry Gregg’s Testimonial match, which takes place at Windsor Park.
With Derry City playing Monaghan United this evening they were unable to allow any of their players to take part in the game and with Harry Gregg adamant that he wanted two players from the Candy Stripes in the Irish League Select squad, the organisers decided on getting two Derry legends to come into the squad, with Hutton and Hargan both delighted to get the call-up.
Also in the Irish League squad to face Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils is ex-Institute and now Linfield midfielder Philip Lowry and his brother Stephen.
There are still some tickets available for the match, which will also be shown live no MUTV, and are on sale at Ticketmaster.
