Derry City signs new right back

Defender Shaun Kelly has left Limerick FC and joined Derry City

Welcoming the signing of the former Limerick right back, manager Peter Hutton said: “I’m delighted to get young Shaun in because I’m a long time admirer of his.”

He added: “I tried to sign him when I was at Finn Harps before he joined Limerick. He’s a Donegal native, he’s a good experienced player and he’s still fairly young at 24.

“Our right back position has been a bit problematic this season so Shaun comes in and we’re delighted. He’s also ready to move closer to home. He and his partner recently had their first child so it suited both parties. He isn’t 100 per cent at the moment but we’ll get him integrated into the team this week.”
