Salmon wins Player of the Week award

All-rounder Peat Salmon has won the latest Long's SuperValu player of the week accolade.

The Newbuildings player scored 202 points in his team’s win over Killyclooney at the weekend.

He beat off the challenge of his nearest rivals Jimmy Britton of Donemana Seconds (146 points), Andy McBrine (134 points) and Coleraine professional Rosheen Silva (133 points).

Others who broke the 100 point barrier were Damien Carlin of Drummond II (128 points), Danza Hyatt of Brigade (122 points), M Bhansar St Johnston II’s (114 points), Junior McBrine and Joe Robinson - both Donemana II’s (106 points) and Glendermott Seconds Ben Mills who scored 100 points.

Players are awarded 1 point for each run scored, 10 points per catch/run out, and 20 points per wicket.

Players in all six divisions are eligible for the prizes with details compiled from scorecards received via the North West statszones on CricketEurope www.cricketeurope.com.

Meanwhile Donemana - winners for the last four years - will host Brigade in the semi-final of the Bank of Ireland North West Senior Cup, with Coleraine entertaining Bready in the other match.

The draw was conducted live on Highland Radio on Sunday, with Stephen Dunn of Ardmore drawing the home side and Peter Harrigan of the North West Umpires’ Association drew the away teams.

The ties will be played later this month.
