Boyd Rankin jumps for joy after taking another wicket for Ireland, during the ICC World Twenty/20 competition, in Dubai.

FORMER Ireland pace bowler Boyd Rankin will be hosting a ‘Fast Bowling Clinic’, on Thursday, December 27, running from 1pm-4pm, at Bready CC’s Indoor Centre of Excellence, which will be open to all youth players (girls & boys) who are aged 12 to 18.

Since 2004 Boyd has been a full time professional cricketer with Ireland, Middlesex, Derbyshire and more recently with Warwickshire, and was an integral part in the team who won this season’s Division 1 County Championship.

During Rankin’s career he has worked with many great bowling coaches, especially the former world number one fast bowler South African Allan Donald, which has helped Boyd develope into the player he is today, taking in the region of 350 wickets at county and international level.

The Bready man is keen to pass on his knowledge and this would be an ideal opportunity for all up and coming fast bowlers to work with Boyd and get tips and advice on what it takes to become a fast bowler, including technique, training drills, fitness and the mental side of being a fast bowler.

The Warwickshire man will be assisted on the day, by Craig Young who is contracted to Sussex, Mark Olphert NW and ECB Level 2 coach and Trevor Hamilton NW and ECB Level 1 coach.

Bready has intially arranged to host one session and it will be limited to 20 players, which will cost £5 per person.

For more information about the clinic or to book a place on this clinic please contact Trevor Hamilton (0777) 579 1667 or via th1974@hotmail.co.uk.
