CRICKET: NW Warriors make changes for T20 game

The North West Warriors' selection committee have announced two changes to the side that lost their opening Hanley Energy T20 contest at Merrion earlier this month, as Ian McGregor's men contemplate a very busy week on the Interprovincial front.

Into the squad come Brigade duo Danza Hyatt and Andy Britton who replace Oraine Williams and Aaron Gillespie respectively.

Hyatt had originally been selected for that opening game in Dublin but was withdrawn following a breakdown in communications and he will now get the chance to show his experience at this level.

Britton’s work commitments have limited his Warriors’ involvement but there is little doubt that when he is available, they need to find a space for him.

Craig Young’s inclusion would suggest that he has recovered from his finger injury while the rest of the squad is exactly as it was for the opening match.

The Head Coach said that the game is an opportunity to get back on track after that opening night loss in Dublin and said he was looking for a reaction from his players at Comber.

“It is a really busy time of things for us over the next week but we’re focused on nothing other than the T20 with the Knights this Friday,” said McGregor.

“As a group we were disappointed with our performance against Lightning and especially the fact that we fell away so badly having given ourselves a great chance early on in that game.

“We’re a better side than that and although this is a really tough competition, we have to take the lessons learned and move forward.”
