CRICKET: Bready Ladies keep up good run

It was back to league action this week in the women's game and table-toppers Bready kept their good start going with another win.

Batting first against Eglinton they scored a confident 124 runs and then managed to put the visiting side out for just 29 runs.

Best with the bat was Alana Dalzell (39) and Vanessa Buchanan (37) while the bowling honours went to Steph Wilkinson with outstanding figures of 6-1 off 2.4 overs.

In the other games Fox Lodge played host to Bonds Glen.

The Bee Gees batted first, getting off to a comfortable start with a strong partnership worth 55 runs between Cherith Thompson (29) and Kylie McGarrigle (20) which helped steer the total to 100 runs.

In the run chase the Foxies got off to an excellent start with fantastic batting from skipper Emma Allen (36) and Sarah Black (50*) that helped their side achieve yet another victory.

At Foyle, Killyclooney picked up their first victory of the season after defeating hosts Newbuildings in an entertaining contest.

Elsewhere at Strabane Park, Strabane Saints picked up another victory defeating Donemana by nine-wickets.

Visitors Donemana scored 94 runs but that was not enough.

In reply chasing their modest target an opening partnership of 77 runs between Anji Porter (26) and Hazel Magee (51*) helped the Saints achieve the total with the loss of just one wicket.

This week’s games see Killyclooney take on Strabane Saints, Fox Lodge facing Newbuildings, Eglinton playing host to Bonds Glen while Bready make the short trip to Donemana.
