Christie Memorial lift National Girls Kwik Cricket Title

Coleraine primary school Christie Memorial are this year’s Northern Ireland Girls Kwik Cricket Champions.

The Ballycairn Road school travelled to Stormont and after topping their group had the drama of a tie in the semi final against Belfast school Strandtown and qualifying for the Final having lost fewer wickets.

The final was another close contest against Bready Primary School and the Christie came out on top by 26 runs.

Coach Stephen McCartney was thrilled that they secured the NI Girls Kwik Cricket title.

“This was a fantastic achievement for the girls who worked so hard at their school and club coaching sessions at Coleraine Cricket Club.

“Thanks also to Cricket Ireland for organising such a great event and the work they are doing in developing Girls Cricket.”
