NORTHERN Ireland manager Nigel Worthington has earmarked Institute midfielder Philip Lowry as a star for the future.
The gifted 19-year-old continues to improve his game and his tremendous form hasn't gone unnoticed by Worthington.
"I know Philip from the Milk Cup squad and he certainly is one for the future," said Worthington.
"Steve Beaglehole has had him in qu
ite a few Under 21 squads and at the minute we should let him develop there.
"We have quite a few players in that position at the minute, but if an opportunity becomes available then we know were Philip is."
With Derry City's Niall McGinn called up to the senior squad last week, Worthington admits more local young talent can only help both him and his country.
"Mr Capello has enough players to pick two quality England squads; we don't have that luxury but we are starting to get more young players coming through and we also have quite a few young talents across the water, which is good for the future."
The Limavady teenager has had a roller coaster summer with the likes of Championship sides Norwich City, Queen's Park Rangers, Ipswich Town and League One side Leicester City, all tracking him.
In fact both The Foxes and The Canaries had the Northern Ireland Under 21 international over for trials and although he didn't make a move to full-time football across the water in the summer, that expected move across the channel could still happen.
His manager John Gregg feels the student has everything in his locker to go all the way.
"I feel young Philip is probably one of the best midfielders in the league," he said.
"He in my opinion is the complete midfielder, he tackles, works hard, has a lot of energy and gets into both boxes, the one thing I think he needs to work on his is goalscoring ratio.
"Philip makes tremendous runs all the time and gets into goalscoring positions but doesn't take all his chances, but hopefully his goal on Saturday and gaining more experience, will help him."
