Future rugby stars get chance to shine

CITY of Derry Rugby club has started pre-season training in preparation for next season's Junior League campaign.
Bevan Lynch's side have organised two early friendly games at the end of this month with Dublin club Monkstown, who are celebrating their 125th Anniversary, open the season at Judges Road on Saturday, August 23 (KO 2.30pm). Next up is London Irish Amateur Club on Friday, August 29 (KO 6.30pm).
The Judges Road men play their first competitive fixture of the season on Saturday, August 30 against Belfast High School Former Pupils in the Junior Cup.
City of Derry Rugby invites old and new players to come along on Tuesday or Thursday at 7pm to training for the new season. Derry is starting two new teams this year with a Fourth XV and Under 20's so everyone is welcome.
The Dooley Cup will be played this year on Saturday, August 30 and it will involve City of Derry Thirds and Fourth XV's. There will be ten teams competing in this very popular tournament for minor rugby teams from the North West.
Meanwhile under age rugby training starts tonight (Wednesday), at 7pm, at Judges Road, for Under 14's, U16's and Under 18's, old and new players are all welcome.
