DERRY City continue to rebuild their squad with Newry City skipper Emmet Friars expected to sign this evening.
The defender, who only a few weeks ago was placed on the transfer list at his own request, may not be Stephen Kenny's only signing this week.

It's believed Limavady United's Stephen Lowry could also be joining the club, as it's thought both City and United are holding talks about a possible move for the midfielder, while ex-Institute winger Darren Cassidy may also join his home town club.

As for Friars, Kenny believes he has signed a player who despite his young age of 24.

"I first saw Emmet play at left back for Northern Ireland youth side against a Scotland youth side, which had Chris Burke and Shaun Maloney and he caught my eye then.

"We need players who are committed and have the desire to play for Derry City and Emmet has that. Although he is still young he was Newry City's captain this year, so his experience will be good for us," concluded Kenny.
