Cricketing duo stand down

CRICKET stalwart's Lexie Miller and Sam McConnell have stood down as President and Chairman, respectively and as Council members and other offices, after over 40 years service each to the Derry Mid-Week Cricket League.
They were both presented with gifts from one the Mid-Week League's main sponsors, Ivan Lapsley of LAP Fuels, as a token of appreciation for this long service; the league also wished both of them well in their retirement, at last week's Annual General Meeting.
The following officers were elected for 2009: Patron - Lexie Miller; President - Sam McConnell; Chairman - Victor McClintock; Vice-Chairman - Drew Downey; Treasurer - Robert Thompson; Secretary - David Caldwell.
Council members elected also were: John Watson, Raymond Hargan, Barry Chambers, Ian Duddy, Thelma Colhoun, John Semple, Noel Dunn, Brian Allen, John Bratton, John Beattie and Sam McPherson.
Meanwhile the next meeting to make the Knockout Cup draws for 2009 will take place in Glendermott CC, on Thursday, December 4, at 7.30pm.
