WITH Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray all preparing for Wimbledon, local tennis enthusiasts can get involved in the sport.
City of Derry Tennis Club will be holding an Open Day in St Columbs Park, Saturday, June 27, from 2pm to 5pm everyone is welcome, light refreshments and snacks will be available.
This will be a very enjoyable day for anyone who is interested in tenn
is, whether you are a junior dreaming to become the next Federer or Nadal or if you haven't played since school days there is something for all ages in the club.
Paul McClintock, Chairman of City of Derry Tennis Club, is delighted at the Clubs success so far this year. "We had a great start to the season after having won the North West Spring League in May, which is the first for City of Derry since the League began.
"With a highly motivated new committee this year I am encouraged with the work we have done to attract new members into the club and especially pleased with the successful ladies evening held on a Tuesday evening from 6pm - 9pm."
"On behalf of the Tennis Club's Committee I would like to thank Marie McKenna, Vice Chairperson, and Gemma McGlinchey, Ladies Captain, for all their work and dedication in the setting up of and supporting Ladies Tennis in Derry City."
Paul added: "Preparation is underway towards another successful summer school, were our club Mr Peter Fryer will be taking sessions from Saturday, July 6 until July 17. While every Saturday morning also between 9am -1pm Mr Fryer, is on hand to coach juniors from 5 years to 17 year olds."
