THE erection of a series of murals at Anderson Park has been hailed as a "welcome and positive" improvement by Limavady Deputy Mayor George Robinson.
The DUP Assmebly member said: "This is a project that my colleague and local MP and now Culture Arts and Leisure Minister, Gregory Campbell initiated some three years ago.
"During that time Gregory, Cllr Alan Robinson and I have worked unceasingly t
o ensure the plans became the reality that we see today.
"The mural replaces what was unsightly graffiti objected to by residents and is a very welcome and positive improvement."
Mr Robinson said the project which had united the entire community behind it, demonstrated what could be achieved for the local area through the time and dedication of local people.
"I congratulate our MP for the foresight he showed when initial investigations paid dividends in terms of financial support for the scheme, and the subsequent involvement of local schools to find the artwork that is unveiled today was a stroke of genius.
"The community group along the Northern Ireland Tennant Action project were delighted to participate in such a positive scheme for their area.
"This successful project shows that with time and dedication an improvement in real terms is achievable for any area. The change in the visual impact is stunning and united a community behind a project that has benefited everyone in the area.
"The Limavady DUP team are committed to helping all areas in the Borough improve their shared spaces with projects like this one," he concluded.
