THE head of acute services at the Western Trust is to retire in July after over 40 years service.

Director of Acute Services, Geraldine Hillick, said: “It has been a privilege to work as Director of Acute Services here in the Western Trust.

“I am grateful for the commitment the Acute Team has demonstrated during my time as Director and the support the Chairman, Chief Executive, and fellow members of the Corporate Management Team have provided me with.

“As I move towards my retirement I am reassured by the fact that the Western Trust has a very strong team of committed clinical leaders and managers who will drive further improvements in our services. I wish you all well for the future.”

Speaking after the announcement Chief Executive Elaine Way said: “It is with enormous regret that I advise you that I have today accepted Geraldine Hillick’s resignation as Director of Acute Services. Geraldine has 41 years of service and has made a tremendous contribution in the West and beyond. I am sure you will join me in wishing Geraldine and her family all the very best for the future.”

Western Trust Chairman, Gerard Guckian said: “I would like to express my profound gratitude to Geraldine Hillick for the tremendous leadership and commitment that she has shown throughout her career but especially more recently as the Trust’s Director of Acute Services.
