The Christmas season will officially get underway at the big lights switch-on in Londonderry on 17th November and to help kick-start the festive fun, Translink is hosting a free family event in Foyle Street bus station that afternoon.
The team from Young at Art, Northern Ireland’s leading arts provider for children and young people will be there to lead exciting workshops to help children write and design extra special letters to Santa.
Alan Young, Translink Service Delivery Manager, explains: “Translink is making an extra effort to bring the Christmas spirit to life in stations and on-board our buses and trains over the coming weeks, with a range of great value offers and lots of surprises planned for our customers. We’re delighted to kick-off our celebrations by hosting special workshops, to help children and their parents make sure those all-important letters are written in time!
“Christmas is a special time for families and we are working hard to make sure that wherever you and your little ones are travelling to over the festive season, your journey runs smoothly.”
Encouraging boys and girls to get involved, Roseanne Sturgeon, Young at Art says: “We are delighted to partner with Translink to deliver this series of free events for families across Northern Ireland. Our letter writing workshop will be lots of fun, with heaps of magic and sparkle, to help make sure yours stands out from all the rest. So, on your way to see the Christmas lights, don’t forget to come to the station and let Santa’s elves help you write the perfect letter – he’s watching you know!”
