The Strabane Summer Jamm Country Fest is set to take place on Saturday, June 13, with loads of fun lined up for all the family.
The town centre will alive to the sounds of music and carnival from 1pm to 5.30pm.
This year the focus is on all things country and will see the Main Street, Castle Street, Abercorn Square and Butcher Street Car Park play host to a series of family friendly activities to include live music, street entertainment, arts and crafts as well as a Busking Competition sponsored by Strabane Chamber of Commerce with £1,600 in prizes.
Karan Leonard, Festival and Events Manager with Derry City and Strabane District Council said: “There is a fantastic music scene emerging from the Strabane area and as part of the Summer Jamm local musicians and singers such as the Barn Owls, the Logues, Lee Matthews, Chloe Wilders and Chasin Hooley will all be performing on the Main Stage, bringing live music to the streets to create a great buzz and atmosphere. The event is a great way to celebrate the summer season and to get families and individuals out and about.”
Ashley Devine, Event Coordinator with Derry City and Strabane District Council said a key part of the event is the inclusion of the Busking Competition offering performers and musicians from across the district to take part and be in with a chance of securing prizes of £1,000, £400 and £200.
“I would like to thank Martin Gallen and everyone at Strabane Chamber of Commerce for coming on board to sponsor this competition and as we are expecting it to attract lots of interest and would encourage anyone wanting to be part of it to express their interest early.”
